Andy Silver is staid, conventional and risk averse. Mel Bowen is a wild child from Swansea, in London to pursue her ambition to become an actress (soap star). Following a promotional assignment, Mel's picked up in a bar in Canary Wharf by a city boy. During the night, sated with sex, booze and cocaine she wakes to hear the city boy being beaten up. She scrambles under the bed and escapes detection but when the hit-men leave, she fails to arouse ‘city boy’ from his unconscious state. Terrified for her safety, she manages to find £40 in the city boy's pockets and an address scrawled on one of the papers scattered on the floor. Now she flees the city boy’s apartment and takes a cab to the address on the piece of paper (Andy Silver's). Thrown together, this unlikely couple soon become caught up in a deadly pincer movement between killer hit-men Moroccan brothers Jamal & Conrad and the police led by DCI Nicola Merchant, relishing her first really ‘juicy’ murder investigation. As the net closes Mel is kidnapped and Andy enlists the help of ex army Afghanistan veterans Terry and Frankie to help him out of his desperate predicament. A bleak stretch of coast outside Blakeney sees the story reach its bloody climax.
