The Scavengers: Murderous Carrion Birds

When gas-powered cars were outlawed in the United States in 2035, the quieter electric vehicles took over the roads. Their quietness, though, led to a proliferation of roadkill, a veritable cornucopia for the carrion birds who, until a fix for the silence was installed in cars in 2040, benefited from the significant increase in food supply and evolved into larger, even more predatory creatures with a constant need for food to accommodate their larger size. The fix decreased the food supply and now the larger, perpetually hungry carrion eaters, led by the smarter crows, are looking for a new source of sustenance. What better food than the creature that deprived them, the humans. The little town of Millerton, Maryland, becomes the epicenter of the bird-human confrontation, and it’s left to Millerton’s parks director, Timothy West, an ornithologist by training, to come up with a plan to save the town from destruction.
