Tom turned his gaze to the mountain- side, when something large, dark and freighting, silently loomed out of the shadows of night. The beast’s red glowing eyes starring over him with such intensity that it sent chills down Tom’s backbone. The beast’s large, man-eating, blood stained teeth gleamed beneath the moonlight. The creature’s mighty roar echoed down in the valley like rolling thunder. The Grizzly swung its large paw, hurtling the Sheriff across the hood of his Jeep Cherokee 4x4, and slamming against Frank’s black pickup. Tom’s life seemed to flash before his eyes as he lay slump against the tire of the old pickup truck. His beautiful wife, his lovely children, he wondered if he’d ever get to see them again? He could see their smiling faces as if he were looking through the old family album. An album he hadn’t looked through in years, but could see it plain as the nose on his face, which was now mangled, and bleeding from the Grizzly’s powerful blow. The tip of his nose dangling from his face. With fight still left in him, he quickly reached for his side-arm, but the large grizzly was already on top of him. Then the radio suddenly came back to life. It was Frank. “Sheriff, everyone’s dead. It’s the Grizzly, and it’s headed right for you. Sheriff, if you can hear me, get the hell outta there!”
