Charles and Sarah nervously awaited the arrival of the Carib. Charles, a tall and handsome man with the body and face of an officer in the service of Her Majesty, paced back and forth in the parlor, leaving a groove in the carpet, glancing up every couple lengths across the room to look at the grandfather clock's face. The parlor was typical to any of the place and time; ornate wallpaper and thick wooden trim, a green couch, a couple of leather chairs, and family portraits against the walls. Please help me grandfather, Charles silently pleaded as he paused to stare into the eyes of a stern-faced man with a noble jawline, portrayed in one of the portraits, And forgive me for what I have let into our family's home.
