Saji and Mary Reddy have just moved into the Rectory of St Andrews Church, Wotten Bradley. The 18th Century rectory goes with the Job of Rector of St Andrews, that Saji has just inherited from his good friend Tom White, who has retired on health grounds. The Rectory and its English country village setting at first provides an idyllic life for the middle aged couple. Its situation in the ancient graveyard of the church only enhancing its charm for the nostalgia loving Saji. The body of a brutally murdered girl found in the nearby woods however changes everything. The death of the girl, the possible connection with a village girl that went missing some 35 years previously, and the possibility of the involvement of the mentally unstable Tom White, thrusts itself onto the lives of the couple, and threatens to rip apart their dreams of a quiet village life. The murder and its echos of previous violence however has a much more profound effect on the other residents of the graveyard, disturbing even their rest. A gentle ghost story in the tradition of M R James or Algernon Blackwood.
