ABROAD

He was as shocked as anyone to find himself there. At that station, on the lowest floor of his life. Not one person could console him, not one person could lessen his burden or grief. This was before the drinking, the drugs, before the countless nights on couches, in stranger’s beds. Long before the broken bones and fractured noses, before the broken glass and ill kept apartments. This was all before he even knew she was dead. Before too long, William’s life sprinted behind him at a slightly slower pace than he could maintain. As long as he didn’t look back, it couldn’t hurt him. A sold car, maxed out credit cards, what little savings he had left, and he was gone. Southeast Asia would suit him just fine. ABROAD is a self-destructive journey through the dysfunctional relationships many experience in their 20s. Compounded with an accidental death, drug use and fleeing to Laos, William finds some relationships never leave you, not even in death. As his candle burns at both ends, he struggles with a recurring ghost and the destructive instructions she brings. Two possibilities fight for dominance in his fragile mind: is he losing his grip on reality or is the ghost real? ...Does the truth even matter anymore?
