She was mayor of a Mexican town. She fought drug cartels, and she fought for the poor, for the children and for the children still to be born. She saw a future for all people – equality, solidarity and sharing. She knew about mayors of other Mexican towns who had been killed in the drug wars – some of them beheaded. But she started schools, mercenaries and homes for the old. The cartels were after her all the time. She was a threat. A kind of Mexican Jeanne d’Arc– a very dangerous threat. Eventuelly a man from an obscure Mexican village who worked for the drug cartels, and was thrown into prison, was to face the ultimate and the very truth of his life.
