At World's Edge: The screenplay

“The dark is long and lonely on the Hunters. Sometimes things creep in that will never leave.”At World’s Edge is the story of Robert Walker – a Scottish government official who is sent to the Hunter Islands, a remote archipelago on the outer fringes of the Hebrides. Walker is tasked with organising the evacuation of the small, struggling population to the mainland, but as soon as he arrives on the islands he finds all is not what it seems. Because despite being invited, Walker is not welcome on the Hunters. Despite their request for re-location, the islanders do not want to leave their home at all. And the more Walker digs, the more he learns of island life, he finds that the community there – dismissed as luddites, even pagans, on the mainland – harbour dark secrets. Secrets that are perhaps even worse than his own. At World’s Edge, heralded as potentially the best British mystery-horror film of the last decade, the natural successor to British Lion’s cult classic The Wicker Man, went into production in autumn 2013. But dogged by poor weather, bad luck, and a series of injuries to the cast and crew – culminating in two unexplained deaths on set – the film was never completed. Available for the first time, this volume includes the complete, unabridged screenplay, introduced by Peter Glover, Creative Producer of At World’s Edge.
