Upon returning from their honeymoon in New York City, Trudy Dylan is loaned from her job as a park ranger with the U.S. Park Service at Lake Lanier to the state of Georgia Department of Natural Resources to work at the site of a nuclear laboratory ruins. Her husband, Patrick, begins his retirement as an adventurer. After battling the Bottom Dwellers of Lake Lanier, Trudy hopes for a more peaceful job in the forest. However, mutant tree people mess with her plans. Patrick and Trudy, with the help of Patrick's cousin, bottom dweller Duncan Dylan, confront the evil tree people and encounter a worldwide conspiracy to take earth back from humans. Their struggles find them once again in the abandoned subway tunnels underneath Manhattan where their ultimate battle ensues...
