Late At Night, Long After Dark

Late at night, long after dark, is a collection of 96 poems paired in 48 duets geared towards those who have a dark sense about themselves. It is a collection of work that is full of the grotesqueries of this world. Complete with tales of killers, cannibalism, demons, vampires, werewolves, and beings not of this world, featuring the raw emotion of love, hate, agony, fear and modern human drama. While not for the squeamish, it is something that will make you question the way you view yourself, the world, and the unknown.

PART THE RAIN Late at night, long after dark, I have visions in my dreams. But it is not a pleasant entity. He is a nightmarish man who spews fire and spits up blood. He toys with my fears and hopes. The man is tall in a dark cloak and gold mask. But all the blood and fire and metal stuff does not have the effect of the rain. In my vision he is walking toward me and while it's pouring rain he parts it. He spreads it like a curtain. Now that's real beauty at work. It's such a display of power without showing off. He could snap me like a twig and the reason he hasn't is because he doesn't want to. Yet. I have come to the inevitability that one day he will come to me to end my sad and forsaken life. He will then part my body like the rain. And that is to be my final wish. To be subject to his raw power. I'm not sure why but I named him Dimitri. That is the name that came to me. But somehow I know he sent it. That is his name and that is who he is. And no one can ever change that. Not even me. DIMITRI Late at night, long after dark, I enter into peoples' dreams, where I can see their true selves. Some minds are happy, some are sad. But they are all ugly. Self-obsessed in their own world. I usually don't feel pity or sympathy for my victims. Nothing but "Me, me, me." But about a year ago I found a boy who was different than most. He didn't seem to care about anything. Yet he wasn't sad or depressed. He wasn't even being apathetic. He just simply wasn't concerned with me showing off to him. Most show fear but not him. He knows my routine back to front, and the threats that come with it. He seems to welcome my presence, as if he is daring me to strike. I know he likes the rain, and the power I display while doing it. So I'll part the rain and spit the fire, as always to please him. I think he wants me to kill him. If that is true, that is my leverage. I won't until he doesn't want me to. I'll visit him every night. I can wait a lifetime. Well, a lifetime in the dream world, that is.
