Aletheia is a melancholy goth living in New Orleans. Her dark moods have been her constant companion for as long as she can remember, but never more so than when her good friend and fellow tarot reader is murdered by the serial killer ravaging Jackson Square. The third in a string of murders, the supernatural killer creates gruesome tableaus, carving astrological symbols into the victims’ chests and leaving tarot cards in their hands. In the wake of her friend’s murder comes Martin, the unconventional detective with Santeria tattoos on his arms; Lilly, an eccentric and detached tarot reader with a propensity for saying unusual and vaguely prophetic things, and Edgar, the emotionally needy drug dealer that’s infatuated with Aletheia. Employing occult knowledge, intuition and tarot cards, they each try to solve the murders as the killings pile up amidst a complex web of social relationships.
