A bad start to a relaxing holiday is all it takes to ruin Emma’s cool. Her temper is hot and flaring, and soon causes mayhem and havoc on what was supposed to be a very calming, peaceful fortnight. Hell hath no fury like a woman deprived of her swimming pool, and disappointment and frustration pile up. After accidentally starting a spree of uncontrolled violence, Emma is forced into ever more creative measures to prevent her lethal activities being discovered. There’s not much fun and laughter on this summer holiday, and as the body count grows, the temperature rises. With ingenuity and increasing enthusiasm, Emma rids herself of the irritations that continue to ruin her expensive trip. Darren Barker has again demonstrated his mastery of murderous prose with a story so murky, bloody and violent that you’ll think twice before your next hotel stay. It’s a great book for a sun-loving horror fan, fast, funny and inventive, as well as horribly violent and happily murderous. Don’t read it in the dark.
