An astonishing 2,000 people go missing in Alaska every year. A state known for its beauty, vast resources, resilient people and long dark winter months. After a young Sheriff’s family is ripped apart by a tragic accident, she’s forced to track down an aging fugitive just as the dark begins. What she finds in the hills are an unusual group of people that worship a strange idol, the Upis beetle. An Alaskan insect that thrives on wildfires and unearthly cold temperatures. Sheriff Nowell learns all too well that some things don’t want to be found AND some things shouldn’t be found.
