Wolf, Interrupted (Wolf Lords of London Book 1)

The novella prequel to the Wolf Lords of London series. Elle Hathaway has spent most of her young life in fear of herself. At least the part of her that grows fangs and claws. With the help of a lycanthrope suppressant, she’s made it through puberty, university, even her first job without so much as a shift. Then one night, deep in the tunnels of the Underground, her life changes forever. Detective Inspector Abelseth Durant is investigating the lethal mauling of an unknown victim in the Covent Garden tube station, and Ms. Elle Hathaway is a person of interest. Sensing her wolf nature, he is mystified by the lovely young woman, and when Elle is abducted by a rival pack, Abelseth realizes he is being pulled back into London’s wolfen underworld.

From the Inside Flap

Five stars for Jillian Stone's first novella in a series!J. Robinson Elle Hathaway is a woman running from who she is, a she-wolf. Taking a suppressant to mask her wolf essence, she's content working at the Chelsea Psychic Garden and hanging out with her friends. Her life changes forever when she witnesses a wolf attack a man in the subway. Enter Detective Abelseth Durant who is investigating the man's murder. Durant turned his back on his family and all the drama they brought into his life. Now he's a detective with a tight grip on his wolf. Until he meets Elle. The more he's around her, the more his animal instincts come out. Then Elle is kidnapped by a group of men who use something called the drift-a current of dimensional energy that allows them to cross distances quickly and hides them from human eyes-and he slowly begins getting sucked back into his family's problems. The chemistry between these two is hot. Once her suppressant starts to wear off, her scent brings out the wolf in him even more. (There is a club scene that had me a little overheated.) Her scent also catches the attention of other wolves which is where a lot of the action comes into play. I would have liked a bit more explanation about the drift. Abelseth mentions it briefly in the beginning but I assumed she would explain it eventually so it didn't stop me from continuing to read. The action was fast-paced and kept me reading until the end. Oh, and when they finally do get together and she embraces her wolf? Wowzers. Did I mention how hot their chemistry was?
