Jerry’s having an extended period of unfortunate luck. His wife divorced him. His son blames him. Now, after attending his son's College graduation as an uninvited guest, he comes home to learn that he’s lost another job. As a 56 year old man, he knows that his prospects are bleak. He briefly contemplates ending his life. While waiting in line to check out of his Hotel, he picks up a tourist brochure featuring a black and white picture of an attractive woman. Her name was Dolores Case. She died in 1983. Her home is one of many Mansions in the area open to tours. Now back in his apartment, without a clue as to his next move, he focuses on the odd sticker attached to the back of that brochure. It’s a solicitation for a job as a live-in caretaker at Case Mansion. Jerry’s intrigued. He fantasizes of an opportunity to send his life in a completely different direction. Instead of sitting behind a desk, as he has for the past 35 years, he’ll start working with his hands. He doesn’t need a lot of money. They’ll be providing the housing. Working with his contractor father all through High School and College, he’s always been good with this hands. If not for his father’s insistence, he would have chosen to follow in his footsteps. Jerry decides to grab at the chance to become the caretaker of Case Mansion. He calls the number on the sticker. The position is still open. His interview is set. This could work.
