The Saico Chronicles: Part One

This anthology contains the first three publications released by Miranda Doerfler. COLLECTION ONE: BRIMSTONE NIGHTMARES "The House Always Wins": It doesn't always pay to win big at a casino. "Still Breathing": On a dark, stormy night, paranoia can often grip us to our core, but tonight, one man will become wild and possibly lose his mind...and his life... "Dark Terminal": A horrific display will leave her thinking, "Maybe I should have just taken the train." COLLECTION TWO: MODERN-DAY HORRORS "Missed Call": People can overhear strange and hilarious things when a friend accidentally "butt-dials" them. This time, however, Craig will overhear a conversation that could be very dangerous...and very deadly. "Blind Date": Nowadays, blind dates are fairly common. Everyone tends to dread them, but at the end of a day, how bad can a blind date really be? In Frankie's case, pretty bad; this blind date is trying to kill him. "Game Over": Many young boys are obsessed with video games, but on this particular night, Drake Maxim is going to get in over his head...and if he's not careful, he may not survive Level One. COLLECTION THREE: FROM BLOOD & BRAIN "The Hunted": When the N.I.G.H.T. urban exploration group travels to a dilapidated and condemned house on Maple Street, they have no idea what awaits them and end up in much more trouble than they bargained for. "Paparazzi": Cain Dennison is the star of the popular horror film franchise, Bloody Puppets. He loves going to conventions and meeting his fans, but one night could scare him off for good... "The Longest Day of the Year": The Summer Solstice is regarded as the longest day of the year. For The Faction, and the entire population of our world, it very well may be their last. AN EXCLUSIVE THRILLER "Black & White" follows a determined FBI agent hunting down the greatest serial killer the bureau has ever encountered; Sanctimonia.

From the Inside Flap

"A Star in the Making: How would you have liked to have been the first person to read Stephen King's work? Or to have leaned over Mary Shelley's shoulder as she penned Frankenstein? Now you can, sort of. That Miranda will one day be a well known, best selling author is of little doubt. But will you be one of her early readers and as such, entitled to boast "I knew her when..."? There is just something special about finding a talented author and watching them grow. And Miranda is getting better with every word." - review by Jim Brown, author of 24/7, BOOM!, and Black Valley

From the Back Cover

"I really love your stuff." "Enjoyed your sci-fi dystopian thriller in Hot Mess!" "I have my expectations set to a certain level because of your age, but nuts to that. Your dialogue, pacing & suspense building is superb." "I just read 'Missed Call' (from Modern-Day Horrors) and now I've turned my phone off. Just in case."- fans from TwitterPraise for Miranda from Colum McKnight, webmaster of Dreadful Tales:"To say that I was thoroughly impressed by this author would be a total understatement. She brings flair, style, and charisma to a genre that yearns for new authors like this. Her age is continually betrayed by her weighty, oftentimes sophisticated prose - something you don't tend to see from upstarts and younger authors. I can also say that Miranda is the first self-published author I ever actually queried for another book or collection. Doerfler's ability to create dynamic characters at the same time as setting a particularly terrifying setting is the reason I haven't given up on the indie circuit altogether. This is a woman who knows what she wants, and what she wants is to just tell a good story. And that's what she does. She spins a damned good yarn."
