Bebington, Merseyside had long enjoyed their night time bonfires; Now Crystal Hill, Merseyside had similarly enjoyed many such bonfires in the dark of a summer night. Aaron Swinton needed that one special case to propel him from the qaugmire that the rank of Junior Investigator had become. He suspected that the case of the missing 10-year-old from the unknown village of Crystal Hill might well be that case. Luke Allen had been missing for two days before Aaron was assigned, which was an oddity in itself! The first 72 hours in a missing child's case were crucial to any investigation. Aaron arrived in Crystal Hill and his gut told him to get the hell out immediately. So did that odd carrot-haired girl, and so did whatever that was that he woke to find in his room that first night. No one was saying much else except for Elder Walford; she had much to say. Aaron did not like her or her ways or the way in which the villagers changed whenever she was about. And she was always about. Omnipresent. And so another summer successfully draws to an end in Crystal Hill.
