Bad news is never in short supply. In Italy, missing schoolgirls are found in the forest, mutilated. There is rioting in Burma. Sex workers continue to vanish in Japan. No-one has a reason to link such stories. Ben Harris certainly doesn’t. Tired of chasing misery, Ben has quit the news business for documentary work. It seems simple - until his government ask him to gather information whilst filming in North Korea. There, Ben realises the regime is hiding a terrible secret. A strange sickness is reducing carriers to a feral state. As the infection spreads, Ben’s team find themselves under siege. Ji Tae Han, a North Korean Army officer, knows the truth; medical experiments have resulted in a terrible virus. Even as she fights to contain the outbreak, Ji Tae discovers their effort is futile; the pathogen is already loose. Aided by Ji Tae, Ben and his fellow survivors struggle to flee the epidemic and warn the world, only to learn there are forces that may welcome apocalypse.
