It has been three weeks since Lily and Connor returned to Elphame from the World of Men, and it has been an eventful few weeks. Now there are plans to set in motion, old friends to find, and old enemies to warn. And that isn’t going to be easy... ...because in order to save the whole of creation, Connor and Lily have turned back time and altered reality in ways beyond imagining. Now it’s their task to make sure that this time it doesn’t all go wrong. And that isn’t going to be easy, because the unfortunate side effect of turning back time is that only a handful of people know that it has even happened. People that Lily met in the other timeline, no longer remember her, because in this timeline they haven't actually met her. The dead are now suddenly alive again, and people that had been alive are now dead. They will work it out, they always find a way, but Lily is beginning to wonder if this time they might just be taking on a little more than they can handle. Evil King Peregrine still has his poor wife, Iona, imprisoned in his darkest dungeon; the goblin army, led by the monstrous Lardhead, is marching on Tunneltown, hell bent of murdering every living soul there, and Aedan is acting very strangely. All in all, just another normal day in Faerie. *********** Author’s note: Although Book Seven of the Faerie series, Changeling, is a self contained, the storyline in Book Seven and Book Eight do overlap, so readers who want to get the complete story, might want to read Changeling before they read The Darkening. If, however, you want to skip it, you can easily pick up the story again in The Darkening without having read Book Seven. I hope you enjoy both books.
