Former orthopaedic surgeon, William Frederick May, is one of the best surgeons of his time, with a successful career spanning over three decades. Although he is officially retired from the stresses of working life, he, because of two unforgettable experiences that occurred during his later life, has joined a private organisation known as S.P.I.R.I.T.S., and occasionally participates in a service which is provided to those who are in desperate need of help. His newfound vocation is, to say the least, extremely fascinating. At times, however, it’s also downright frightening. Otherworldly entities – somemischievous, some harmless, others more sinister in nature – lurk nearby, observing, waiting for the perfect opportunity to capture the attention of those brave or foolish enough to satisfy an insatiable curiosity. Unfortunately, curiosity can sometimes lead to bigger and far more serious problems, namely an unprovoked attack on those who are unsuspecting.
