iDream... Alone in bed, on the last night of his life, the sleeper dreams. Small movements and sounds around him frequently intrude and alter the course of his dreaming - a world of menace which gradually unfolds within a stream of (often distorted or inverted) events and references. Alex Russell, in this epic poem, leads us on an hallucinatory trip through the sub-conscious. It is, by turns, whimsical and disturbing. The reader is kept off-balance throughout. This is the author's first book. His second "A Russell in the Undergrowth" is a collection of short stories based on his bizarre experiences while living in France, interspersed with snippets of poetry.

About the Author

"I seem to have spent my life passing from one room to another, closing the door behind me." For Alex Russell a breach birth in 1951 was the first hint that all was not well with his world. Being subsequently bred and bored in a council house in Long Ashton, a village near Bristol in the south-west of England, confirmed it. The fourth child of a factory foreman, he gained a scholarship to Bristol Grammar School and then went on to university in Birmingham. After he graduated (in Sociology and Politics) he spent a very memorable period in Franco's Spain, following which he became an archaeologist, and after that worked on drilling rigs in Britain and in Germany. Returning to the South-West, he taught woodwork in a centre for deaf-blind people. Following another degree (in Design Technology) he taught in schools and colleges for some years before leaving to become a self-employed designer and maker of furniture. In 2005 he moved with his partner, Jane, and their two oriental cats to a mountain in central France-but that, as they say, is another story... ...Recently he has also published "A Russell in the Undergrowth", a compilation of short stories based on his experiences in France.
