Masque: The Offlings

Dr. Edwin J. Nichols thinks the horrors of his time on a hospital ship in the Pacific Theatre during WWII are over. He has looked forward to continuing his medical practice in his hometown of River Crest, Pennsylvania. But the quiet, old iron town along the river has some horrors of its own. It has been five years since the war ended but he is still haunted by his time in the service. And now, after a series of tragic events occur, the town is anything but peaceful and welcoming. He begins to wonder if, in fact, that the strange happenings might have something to do with the town’s ancient and mythical folklore. If so, he starts to question his sanity and his abilities as a doctor. Can a man of science put his faith in the supernatural? Will his place of birth give up its dark secrets, connecting the events of the present with its violent and tragic past?

About the Author

About The Author Jeff Willoughby is a lifelong musician who has over five thousand performances to his credit. Retiring from the road in 1996 (and again in 2008), he has continued exploring his overall passion in life: creativity. He has pursued many fulfilling endeavors which include continuing to write, record and produce music, scriptwriting, voice acting, photography, computer graphics and art, historical reenacting, and aviation. The latter earning him his private pilot's license and eventually inspired the construction of an experimental aircraft. Jeff considers writing fiction to be a natural advanced step and larger construct, not unlike his method of songwriting. This is his sixth book, and the first co-authored with his wife. You can find him on social media through his website at jawilloughby.com Rebecca Willoughby has loved writing since middle school, which is probably one of the reasons graduate school in English seemed so appealing. Rebecca earned her Ph.D. in English at Lehigh University with a teaching specialty in film, and is currently temporary faculty in English at her undergraduate alma mater, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. Her main research interest is horror. She lives with her husband, Jeff, and their devoted-if bitchy-cat in Central PA, where she enjoys the shifting of the seasons.
