2084: 2069

George Orwell's 1984 and Aldous Huxley's Brave New World exposed the greatest tyrannies of their time during the ruin of the 20th century, but the dangers they envisioned, at least in a total and global sense, never came to fruition as promised. However, in the Third Millennium, modern peoples invoke their names as if they are yet again on the horizon of possibility; An echo, a repeat, or a rhyme of the barbarism we thought we left behind. Some say it never ended at all, and we already are living amidst the dystopia, just too clueless and distracted to realize our loss over generations or too near sighted by the veil of ignorance to discover the humanitarian gains in our future. Such is and was the war of ideals, those pervasive polarizing absolutist ideals, all perfect in nature, surely mandating the participation of all regardless of will, regardless of opposition, and regardless of loyalty. But this is nothing new. Totalitarianism is by definition cliché and the horse has evaporated from its amount of beatings. Winston loved Big Brother as the bullet tore through his skull and John swung from his rope to redeem himself of his own betrayal; thus, the assumption of totalitarian stability was bought by the masses and the tools to resist its formation were acquired by the reader. Furthermore, in the information age, nothing goes unseen by even the poorest, no position is too secure for a siege of millions to demolish, and not a single deity living or dead escapes untouched by scathing criticism. So it would seem humanity has risen too high for the sophistry of propaganda to incite genocides and death cults. But this is no story about a lame and naïve protagonist trapped in a system with the attributes of God. This is a story about a man with the attributes of the Devil twisting souls in paradise so he may again profit in Hell. Please enjoy.
