The human eye is said to see at one thousand frames per second. Two separate eyeballs each seeing a slightly different image would provide two thousand frames per second. If a picture, or frame if you will, is worth a thousand words, how then can we ever hope to perceive the entirety of a single moment? We cannot, so instead we attempt to ascertain focal points to make sense of the world around us and in doing so we tune out the vast majority of our field of view, but existing on the edge of our vision, is a world so terrifying that we refuse to acknowledge it, possibly by a subconscious need to ignore it. Perhaps, if you consider yourself timid of heart, it would be best to put this book down now and continue the rest of your life careful to not let your eyes wander and mistakenly catch a glimpse of the peripheral horrors.
