It's Christmas 1926 and Reaper should be heading back to his one room flat above the Green Street Tavern where he bounces out the rowdies. Instead, he's accompanying barmaid Irma back to her own flat only to discover that Irma's nine-year-old son is missing and the flat has been torn apart by an intruder. Reaper knows that four children went missing and were found murdered in the last twelve months. He's determined to ensure that Irma's son isn't the fifth victim. He's only run into a soulless serial killer once before and people without souls don't get to live in Tim Reaper's books.
