When Leila Stein flees her abusive husband, her gas money lasts into Wyoming. Stranded in a small town without resources, she is elated when rancher Bill Colvin offers her a job watching his children. But when he drops her off at the isolated house without telling her when to expect him back, she begins to worry.Inside the house, the air reeks and the children are traumatized. About the Author

Heather McLoud wakes up most mornings with two thoughts. "I'm sure happy to be alive," and, "Coffee!" These spontaneous urges are followed by a determination to write while the coffee is consumed. She works as a Registered Nurse-a profession she loves for its intrinsic meaning.
