Impossible Assumptions

The stories contained in this volume do not belong to any time. Perhaps they fit within the limits of the new Spanish-American imagination literature, the fantastic literature that Jorge Luis Borges searched so eagerly on dusty shelves of long and dark library corridors as infinite as his own creation. The location of the stories is not exact either. They rest between restlessness and a breath of air when all opportunity to breathe has been lost. The stories of Andrea Ciria do not only briefly feed from the imaginative authenticity of authors like Charlotte Perkins or from the same dimension of contemporary terror to which Mariana Enríquez belongs, but also, with their unique style, they run through enigmatic frameworks that readers will have to discover. They are like maps without tracing that we must venture fearing the unknown, while our skin shivers as we notice the slightest movement in a room; like the nameless fear we feel at the back of our neck, and the darkness at the end of a long corridor that watches us from afar and begins to grow towards us.
