Mormaer is the story of Taggart O’Beolan, a Scottish sin eater that was cursed with rejuvenating abilities after consuming the sins of an immortal strix (vampire) over 800 years prior. After many centuries and adventures, Taggart turns his back on the sacred ceremony and the immortality it allows. Instead, he resigns himself to old age and the prospect of death. Only when his next-door neighbor is murdered and the orphaned daughter shows signs of the same ability does he finally change his mind. Together, Taggart and Vivian must escape the clutches of one of the Catholic Church’s oldest groups: The Order of the Thorne. Through their flight over states and continents, Vivian must learn how to use her abilities while her mentor seeks out those whose blood can fully restore him to youth, the Strix. But the obscure Order of the Thorne isn’t the only threat that the pair face, there is a third player, who is just as dangerous.
