Loosely autobiographical in parts, this horrifying tale morphs into an entrancing fantasy when the narrator encounters his guardian angel while camped at the beach on North Padre Island, Texas, in an area near the Devil's Elbow. Author Kevin Cochran, a former English teacher and English major, consciously attempted to emulate his favorite authors in style and voice. "I want this work to stand on the shoulders of giants like Poe, Melville and Hawthorne. In it, I achieved my most authentic voice to date."
