For centuries, vampires have been trying, like humans to define and discern their origin of life. While there are many theories, none is more accepted than the legend of the immaculate, believed to be the pure blooded vampire. Who, unlike all vampires today were never turned by another, but were born that way. Their name not only stems from their conception but also their skin, which remains immaculate, for it lacks the scar left by ones maker. Immaculate is a story of a young woman, Alessandra, who after having one innocent encounter with a vampire awakens a dormant genetic trait that turns her into a vampire. For the duration of the novel, Alessandra struggles to hold on to her human life and relationships, while attempting to understand and accept the being she’s become and the growing responsibilities that come with it. She soon finds out; however, that balance is unattainable, especially when one is an immaculate.
