Ned hadn't been thrilled about moving to Winfield so he and his mother could take care of his ailing grandmother. But at least he couldn't say life was boring—not once all the weird things started happening at the old Kearse house across the street. The strange flickering lights. The loud crashing and banging. The mysterious and gruesome deaths. And certainly not once Ned was stuck hiding young Nan Kearse in his basement, because she was too afraid to live alone in her own house...Ned didn't blame her for being afraid. He'd be afraid too. In fact, he was afraid—terrified—whenever he and Nan went back into the house, looking for the ghost of her great-uncle, or whoever was haunting the place. For even though Ned knew there was no such things as ghosts, there was no denying the horrible feelings that came over him whenever he climbed the stairs to the attic. And the terrible certainty that he had stumbled across a long-buried secret. A secret never intended to see the light of day...
