A pleading phone call was all it took to urge a mobster/killer out of an eighteen-year self-imposed retirement, to leave his family in their South Florida dwelling and return to his old Fordham neighborhood. The caller, an old, superstitious former priest in Fordham, believed a very old woman was a demon killer who was responsible for the suffering deaths of many of the remaining Italian inhabitants in the neighborhood. Vince DeSisto was implored to hasten his return to Fordham as a very dear friend of his had offended the demon and was surely destined to be the next suffering victim. “With your assistance,” the former priest confided to Vince DeSisto, “we will perform the ritual that will end the existance of the demon possessing the powers of the Mal’Occhio.” Hurrying to obey the former priest, Vince was unaware he was putting his own life in jeopardy upon his return to Fordham.
