Jolly Octopus is a madcap, and dark humerus romp through sea-based tales. At the core, a tainted beach that harbors more than just sand and waves. A collection of random, or maybe not so random jaunts spun from the likes of a seedy Captain, a sneaky tiki owner, a boy and his dog, a retire-ready Detective, and an assortment of other rich characters, both in wealth and mind.Jolly is a different brand of horror for me. It is steeped in not only prose, shortened stories, and flash fiction but complemented with a bevy of visual aids of the mind-fuck quotient as well.Jolly was born from a simplistic poem that began to chip away at my mind and later expanded to a rollicking short story. The idea to spawn a series of sea-worthy stories kept swimming around like a school of starved piranhas. The anchor of the stories would be revealed later, as a mainstay of every human’s fascination with the outdoors. The beach.Come and pull up a chair and dig your feet in the sand, if you are so brave. Allow your nervous fingers to flip through the pages, fingertips sliced from the paper cuts. That was all by the publisher's design of course. It adds to the atmospheric tension. JOLLY OCTOPUS is a cheerful, horrifying romp, a stylish example of the wicked talent and emotion rooted deep within that has finally clawed its way back to the surface.
