From School Library Journal
Gr 4-6-In this fourth series entry, Kathy Wicklow solves a mystery involving a local girl named Ruby Faye, believed to have drowned in 1906, and Duncan, her great-grandmother's brother. The story moves at a quick pace with the ghost of Ruby Faye providing clues to help the protagonist find the truth. Although her friend Drew does not believe in her ghostly sightings, he helps her get to the bottom of the girl's disappearance by providing background information about the area and support. Kathy, in turn, tries to make him realize that he shouldn't be ashamed of having asthma. The novel ends with the solution of the mystery; less satisfying is the fact that Drew continues to doubt himself despite his friend's encouragement. Still, this is a good ghost story that holds readers' interest from beginning to end.-Lana Miles, Duchesne Academy, Houston, TX Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information, Inc.
