"Dark Pages From Darker Ages", a collection of 26 short novels, short stories and poems, is a book written by Raener Lewington and is a large compilation of independent horror and dark fiction. Starting off with the story “Stay Calm! We’ve Only Just Begun.” we see a young intern who is looking to find a job working at an insane asylum, only to be introduced to some of the most deplorable and horrific actions ever conceived by humans and faces a dilemma that poses a threat to his very existence. Taking further steps into the collection, we have stories like “What Do You See?” and “Ego” that ask the questions of human mortality and any possible realities that exist beyond mortal death, as well as evaluating human nature itself. Many other stories from “The Lies I Tell Myself”, to “Kyro”, to “The Love I Once Had”, and to “Volvox” have been written to capture absolute loss, the different ways in which people cope with loss and the resulting consequences that characters take on as they continue to move forward past it. From stories that may be easily read during a spare moment of someone’s day to stories with so much detail that they required being split into several parts, “Darker Pages From Darker Ages”, aims to immerse readers in separate worlds and tales that are so difficult to put down once you begin to start, no matter how terrifying it gets.
