Mac Macmillan is a young boy with a big secret. His mind has a window to the past, where he can see things that happened as clearly as if he were there watching them unfold. An accident upends his family's life, forcing them to move to an old farmhouse in a rural Illinois town where Mac is plunged into a deadly mystery. Ten years ago, a young girl who lived in the farmhouse disappeared on the same day as an older boy, and neither was ever seen again. Everybody assumes that the boy kidnapped the girl and left town. But Mac is seeing a different story as a crying girl keeps appearing to him. No one else can see her, and she seems to be trying to tell him her secret. As Mac is drawn deeper into the town's secrets, he faces more and more danger, and the truth may cost him dearly. Unsettling scenes unfold in his head, but a key figure is missing. As past and present collide, can he see the final piece of the puzzle before the town's secrets destroy him and his family?
