Doorways

Ethen Davis is a typical seven year old with too much time on his hands and a worrying amount of imagination. His mother and father have tolerated his "nightmares" to their last nerve, and to the average onlooker the boy appears to need a firm hand and a bit less soda before bedtime...The Things he saw in the dark were just dreams, after all... they weren't real and they couldn't hurt him...But if monsters only existed in his imagination, what happened when his imagination wasn't imaginary? With the line between reality and the dream growing blurrier with each passing night, how much longer can Ethen tell the difference between the boring real world inhabited by the adults, and the fantastical, terrifying visions that await when he closes his eyes? Some bedtime stories were never meant for children. Some dreams have teeth.
