The Wishing Well

The Wishing Well

Danielle Vaughn is on a journey for peace. After a devastating accident has taken her husband, she is left with only her two children, many unanswered questions and the bone chilling mental state of her daughter, Shari. The answers to many of Danielle’s questions can be found at the bottom of my novel; The Wishing Well. Set in Bath, North Carolina, this mind bending, character-driven story brings the horror of vampires to a new level. The undead have found the bridge in to our world and their one limitation is overcome. Danielle’s fragile nerves are just about at their breaking point, when she finds herself in love with Tom; something she never believed possible again. Their relationship develops in to their engagement and impending marriage. Finally able to exhale, Danielle rediscovers friendship, happiness and some much needed passion in her life; only to inhale again in horror as she discovers the truth about The Wishing Well… Contrary to what we’re taught to, what we’d like to and what our minds allow us to believe because it’s what we consider to be safe……Something that is all-together too evil and too frightening to comprehend exists in a place that runs parallel. Some might call another realm…another plain of existence……can only be brought here when an innocent mind is opened. There it lives and becomes a gateway through which it can pass into the minds of others who trust without question and without regard for their better judgment. They do so because of something that is woven into the depths of our being; the one thing that seems to far exceed even the need to survive……and that thing is greed. Some would call it the “Root of all evil.” People make wishes, begin to dream and pray for what they want, but it still doesn’t come. Either way, greed, in its own right is powerful. It’s what both builds and destroys, what draws near and pushes away…..if it’s starved, it dies, but if it’s fed, it can be relentless in the destruction it leaves in its carnal path. Ultimately, it bites the hand that feeds it and bears no remorse as it dissipates and waits for its next victim. One should keep their wishes where they belong, on birthday candles or tossing coins into wishing wells where they can’t hurt you……..
