Helen, the often jilted and not much to look at science officer, longs for a secure and passionate love. The infertile Rochelle, Vatican’s psychologist and surrogate mother to Mel longs to replace the empty feeling her abortion left. The physically challenged Larry, mission archivist/painter/poet longs to overcome the cowardice he has hidden behind the veil of his disability. The ‘not out of the closet’ Brian, ship engineer, thirsts for acceptance, then there is the ambitious Sarah, mission commander, having too often been disappointed by God gives her life to the lust of power and prestige.
