Some six centuries later, Martine and Nick, through a web of mystical revelations, come to believe they are Nika and Mico, reincarnated. Nika and Mico are believed to wander the afterlife in a tortuous state, seeking peace and rest for their souls. They are also believed to be responsible for a series of murders on the island in which couples guilty of infidelity have been stoned to death.
