The city of Augusta is under attack, and people are dying. At the center of this is Ray Young, a boy whose friends and sisters have found a way to turn themselves into vampires. Too immature to understand the consequences of their actions, these children repeatedly unleash this terror upon their hometown. The authorities are struggling to cope, and many remain in denial about what is happening. Ray and the others continue to get away with their crimes, but things turn even darker as events spiral out of control. Loyalties shift, and consequences start to catch up with them. Just when it seems like the nightmare might be coming to an end, new dangers emerge. As the first volume of The Young Blood Trilogy, Young Blood is a nostalgic visit to the American South in the 1980s mixed with a horror story, but with some twists. Long-standing traditions clash with progressive ideas, and concepts such as amorality, superstition, and personal responsibility come into question.
