A novella told from the perspective of Michael Plithers. Michael is worried, but unlike the other sixteen year olds of the quiet town of Greenacre who are awaiting their exam results, Michael has a bigger problem on his mind. His younger brother Jesse, a boy with an unusual physical defect, has just been released from a Youth Offenders Institution for torturing young boys. Michael is beset with the burden of making sure that his little brother stays out of trouble while being torn between the truth behind Jesse's macabre crimes and offering Jesse the chance to prove that he has changed his ways for the better. Michael cannot help but wonder; has Jesse really been rehabilitated during his time of imprisonment or has his deviant mind matured into something more sinister than ever before and if so, will he really be able to protect the peaceful residents of Greenacre from the boy fiend, Jesse?
