Hot Jazz, Cold Blood (Jessie, the Reluctant Vampire)

Welcome to the jazz age in Chicago as Jessie O’Hara’s human and vampire worlds begin to overlap, generational conflicts erupt, and vampires find work as mob hit men. Jessie has escaped from her history in the east, moved west, and built a new funeral business and a primate lab for her blood research. She’s started her life over, and all is going well – until a telegram arrives and she finds that her past has followed her. There’s unfinished business and new threats from old adversaries to overcome. She has friends and allies, human and vampire, but dealing with Al Capone, keeping the police at arm’s length, and staying out of the way during gang wars isn’t always easy. On top of everything else, there’s a mystery involving her own boogieman that she must solve.
