I've heard the voices for as long as I can remember. Whispering secrets they never spoke aloud in life. I see these, secret speakers, as points of light. A small pin point of bright white. Sometimes the secret is basic in its entirety, an indiscretion, love child, theft, hurtful words spoken in anger and never apologized for. I can't share the secrets, that gets you committed, so now I'm just a sounding board, or maybe practice. I never tell, I hold them in. Some slide easily from my mind, others are stored away in what I call my "do not open" compartment. Those ones are overwhelmingly horrific at times. It's so hard to find peace. I've become kind of handy at muffling the voices at night, but sadly I'm pulled out of slumber most nights. If I have several bad nights in a row, I have my escape. My secret location, where silence reigns.I just learned another secret, it can't be true, but I know deep down they don't lie. Chances are not many will make it out alive, including me.
