With his surveillance point still somewhat blurred, he grabbed a shirt from a laundry basket in the corner of his bedroom in-order to wipe the glass, then raced over and turned off the light. After heading back to the window where he once stood, he removed the remaining moisture from the glass and was now amazed by the clarity of the fire blazing throughout the power plant a few miles away. While standing there peering out of the window, he heard multiple explosions on the horizon.With both hands cupped closer together as he turned his attention away from the fire, again; he slowly wiped the excess moisture created from his exhalation while staring out of the window. Abruptly, an unidentified flying object slowly entered the left-side of the young boy's peripheral vision. The oval shaped craft floated at a snail's pace pass the side of his house while making a soft pinging sound. Both curious and terrified, Cross is about to set off on a riveting and bone-chilling journey of survival.

While slowly walking downstairs, Di-onna occasionally lookedbackwards in the direction of the young boy's bedroom door. A picture ofthat old shoe which fit someone's right foot kept flashing in her mind as shecasually made her way downstairs. After checking on Parker and noticinghe was asleep, the babysitter wondered how it could have made its way to asecond-floor roof ledge. The thought of strong winds made the impossible,possible during a moment of peace. Di-onna's period of clarity was soonshort lived, because what's to follow momentarily, may rank among thescariest prequals to horror she'll ever know.Now, it is after midnight and Di-onna picked up her cellphone fromthe living-room table to call the little boy's parents. What has transpiredthus far throughout the evening, has left her feeling somewhat hopelessand spellbound. This was supposed to be a peaceful time like the nightbefore. During a moment of hesitation, she checked on Parker and noticehe was still sleeping. This was the first time her dog slept like this. After aminute or so, the babysitter thought nothing of it, then turned to view aclock on the wall, while wondering more and more why she has not heardfrom the little boy's parents. Just as Di-onna was about to dial their number,a woman's scream was heard coming from the back yard.Presently, every movement, frozen, while the sitter looked fearfulas she began a quick step in the direction of the nearest window. For aninstant, she slowed her momentum and cautiously reached out to pulled,midway, a darkened brown curtain to get a glimpse of what happened oris transpiring outside. But during prior steps toward her goal, Di-onnaremembered Cross telling her earlier, he saw an injured woman beingchased by someone, so hesitantly; she released the curtain to its previousposition. After a deep breath, she grabbed the material again, and gentlypulled back on it. What she saw, horrified her deeply.The babysitter observed a motion detection light affixed to a high point ofthe garage, which illuminated the area to include a car she recognized,and thought was being used by its owners.

About the Author

Spending formative years in and out of disadvantaged neighborhood's on the east-side of Cleveland inspired Dark Kent to cultivate an imagination that allowed him to project his mental creations into a written form while wishing to escape that harsh reality. As he expressed himself through storytelling, he developed a love for creating fictional tales many found enduring and interesting, which sparked the imaginary path set before him to attempt a pinning of one of the greatest yarns published for contemporary readers to enjoy.
