Algernon Blackwood (1869-1951) was an English author who still stands to this day as one of the most prolific writers of ghost stories in history. Himself a member of paranormal and occult societies such as the Ghost Club and the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Blackwood’s weird fiction is fueled by his sincere passion for the mysterious and the unknown. The Empty House and Other Ghost Stories, the first collection of weird tales released by Blackwood, was originally published in 1906. It remains a wonderful introduction to the works of one of the most gifted figures in the history of supernatural fiction.
