Songs of the Profane: Twin Moons Prelude

Therax is a world of magic and secrets, all held behind a veil of ignorance. In the Territories, in particular, there has been no end to the obscuring veil that hides the nature of this strange and alluring place, as well as the past that gave it shape. Old ruins litter the land, a testament to what has gone before and a dim reminder of what could come to pass. Throughout much of the known world, the people have gravitated to the worship of a few entities known as the Silent Gods. Great reverence is paid to their earthly conduits, the mysterious Prophets who use their might and magics to cast a shaping hand on history. However, there has not been such a figure in a very long while. The people are adrift, listless. All that they have ever known has been thrown into question. The gods are still given their due, and yet the people are met with nothing but a wall of indifference. Instead of a steady march forward, the annals of the Territories have ground to a halt; its gears motionless and rusted in the face of this grey twilight. From the north, in the Territory of Illen, there is a force emerging that stands as a beacon to some. A promise of order and progress in the face of a world of decline and rust. How this order will be achieved is a question that haunts many who are considered less desirable by the culture at large. The fear felt by the disenfranchised is mirrored by the hope of all those who are promised new opportunities for growth and prosperity in the new world. Still others have no knowledge of what's to come, of the forces moving throughout the Territories. In Isaketh, a small village in the eastern Territory of Aereth, there is a young hunter who has been pushed to the fringes of society. Who she was mattered more to those who exiled her than anything she had done. When this grand change sweeps toward her, toward Isaketh, she will be faced with a choice that could not only determine her fate, but the fate of Therax itself.
