Annie Neeter can't help it, ghosts talk to her. She's talking to one when a gunman breaks into the County Records Office, shooting a clerk and becomes a suspect in an attempted murder case. One thing she knows, she'll never be able to persuade Arran Dane, detective in charge of the case that she really sees ghosts. And convincing him she's crazy hardly seems better. Unfortunately for Annie, the head of the local Russian Mafia organization and the man who sent the shakedown man does believe in ghosts. If he could get information on his enemies, plant observers whom nobody could see, learn the cards in a poker hand, he could control crime in Dallas. Blackmailing Annie into helping is a small price to pay...at least from his perspective. Annie and Arran form the ghost brigade to help them stop the Mafia chief, but what can ghosts do against bullets?
