After losing his wife and home, Justin Lowes returns to Landfalls Illinois. He encounters a bizarre technology: an apparatus that shifts souls into bodies. With the help of his Prosopagnosia friends, he mends his torn emotions. In the meantime, they all start to notice a change in electronic equipment and other objects. Justin finds a tracking device in his alternator and Cap a similar device in his cell phone. They investigate to find a technology not of this world. Meanwhile, F. B. I. Agent Flauss discovers a strange frequency emanating from the small town. Through treachery and murder, Justin is led down a dangerous path to a shocking conclusion.
