About the Author
My family has been in Louisville since before the American Revolution, which makes it pretty special walking amongst old streets and buildings sprinkled with family history. Rumor has it, in 1928 my Grandmother and Grandfather rowed out to the middle of the Ohio River in a small row boat, where they eloped, right there on the water. I never know if the bit of sidewalk I'm standing on was a place an old relative once stood, it's very cool and I dig it. I can never truly feel alone in this city. I've been lucky enough to have experienced vast amounts of traveling in my youth. By the time I was 19 I had been to forty-eight states and this has given me such a vibrant perspective on everyday life and the innate beauties that tend to surround us that we can and do take for granted. Those are memories I can reach for and incorporate into my writing. So many hobbies, reading, traveling, going to concerts, listening to music, drinking too much coffee, all of these things add a little extra sparkle to my life. On Inspiration... Inspiration comes from many places and sources, there isn't one person or one event that inspired me to write, I've just always been a writer. Often times music is what really gets my mind racing with a scene or story, which must simply be put on the page without hesitation. Sometimes, inspiration comes from standing outside in the silence and watching things unfold naturally. A thought or idea can come at any time from any direction, being open to seeing it is what makes the writing a possibility. You're surrounded by thousands of stories every day, but are you aware of it? That's what makes a writer a writer, when one elevator ride with a stranger can turn into life changing chapters. On writing... Writing is an innate part of who I am, writing for me is like breathing. I don't write just because I like it, I write because I have to. Writing allows me to take all of the thoughts in my head, the feelings of my soul, the toxicity I can accumulate from a bad day, or the love that is writhing through my veins, and express it to the open void. I don't write necessarily for people to read it, I write because there is a part of me that needs to be outwardly expressed in a relatable manner to my own senses. There is the realization that people will not read everything I write, but someday, should someone stumble upon something I may have written, maybe that's the moment they needed to discover for themselves.
